About this module

Turbines are unforgiving environments for the spine.

Confined nacelles, vertical ladders, and heavy components mean manual handling injuries are a leading cause of lost time in offshore wind. A single bad lift can end a career. This GWO module teaches the assessment skills and safe techniques you need before you ever step into a tower.

You will learn how the spine is built, how it fails, and how to work with the load rather than against it. The TILE principle becomes a habit, not a poster. Team lifts, mechanical aids, and individual technique are all covered with plenty of hands-on practice.

Our trainers have lifted, pulled, and rigged in real turbine environments. They bring that practical knowledge to every session, so you leave with techniques that actually work on site, not just in a warehouse demo.

This module is grounded in repetition. You will assess, lift, adjust, and reassess until safe handling is second nature.

Practical training covers

  • Risk assessment of realistic turbine loads and components
  • Individual lifting technique practice with live feedback
  • Team lift coordination in confined-space scenarios
  • Use of mechanical aids relevant to turbine environments
  • Posture and movement analysis with trainer feedback
  • Stop-and-reassess decision making under fatigue

Who should attend

  • All new entrants to the wind industry
