Survive, signal, and be rescued in the offshore environment. Delivered in our on-site sea survival pool at Blyth.
Book this moduleOffshore wind technicians transfer, work, and sometimes escape in one of the most challenging environments on earth. Cold water shock can incapacitate within seconds, and rescue times offshore are measured in hours, not minutes. This GWO module equips you with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to survive an immersion, signal for help, and be rescued safely.
Delivered in our purpose-built sea survival pool at Port of Blyth, this is the most immersive module in the BST programme. You will wear the offshore PPE you would use on transit, feel how a lifejacket and immersion suit behave in water, and practise the positions and techniques that keep you alive while you wait.
You will also learn how a helicopter rescue is conducted, the signals and equipment used, and what is expected of you as the casualty or as part of a group in a life raft.
Sea Survival is a pool-based module. You will spend most of the day in the water, practising skills under realistic conditions with instructor support.
Sea Survival is delivered as part of our combined GWO Basic Safety Training. Join us at the Port of Blyth for training delivered by industry professionals.
